SBAC Results Show Green Dot Schools Achieve Breakthrough in Student Growth
South LA students are achieving some of the best academic growth in the state, according to state test and academic growth models from CORE, a network of the nine largest school districts across California. CORE student growth percentiles show significant growth and achievement for Green Dot Public Schools’ students, a network of Title I public charter schools founded in 1999, when it first received authorization from the Lennox School District to open a new high school in Lennox. SBAC results from 2018 show impressive student growth under CORE’s student academic performance model, normed to the results of 1.3 million students statewide across nine school districts.
At Oscar De La Hoya Ánimo Charter High School, Ánimo Pat Brown Charter High School, Ánimo Jackie Robinson Charter High School, Ánimo Western Charter Middle School, Ánimo Mae Jemison Charter Middle School and Ánimo College Prep Academy students are growing at a CORE student growth percentile of 87+ — meaning they are significantly outpacing student academic growth of their peers across the state.
In particular, there are some important lessons to be wrought from the impressive results at Ánimo Mae Jemison and Ánimo Pat Brown, where students grew in the 99th and 100th percentiles across both ELA and Math.

CORE District’s Student Growth Percentiles measure student growth year over year by comparing student performance to those of their peers on previous state assessments. SGP scores above 50 represent growth that is faster than average.
