Jasmia Fowler

Principal

Ms. Fowler has been fortunate to serve in various capacities in education. She began her career as a high school special education teacher after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She transitioned to roles such as special education department chair and case manager. She soon realized that she had a deeper desire to make greater impact as a school leader. In 2015, she studied the intricacies of leadership and received her M.Ed in School Leadership from Harvard University. She has had the privilege of being an educator in Chicago and serving as a Principal Resident in a Boston Public Schools. It is with great pleasure and honor that Ms. Fowler now resides as the Principal of Animo College Prep Academy. Rest assured that she is committed to not only continuing ACPA’s mission and drive for excellence but also working collaboratively with all stakeholders to build a rigorous and fun school community.

Agustin Vecino

Assistant Principal

Mr. Vecino was born and raised in Los Angeles, California before leaving for New York to attend college. He graduated from Columbia University with a BA in History. (He was originally and Architecture and Urban Studies major.) He earned a Master’s in Education from Harvard University. Mr. Vecino earned his principal’s credential from Cal State University Dominguez Hills. Before becoming an assistant principal with Green Dot Public Schools, Mr. Vecino started his career in education by teaching English Language Arts and History at Los Angeles Academy Middle School in south central Los Angeles. After that, Mr. Vecino returned to New York to teach History at Landmark High School, a small alternative public school. Upon his return to Los Angeles, he served as a History coach at Edison Middle School in south central Los Angeles and, for several years, as a Small School Development coach with LAUSD’s Pilot School Network.

In 2012, Mr. Vecino joined Green Dot Public Schools as assistant principal at Animo Leadership Charter High School. In 2017, he joined the ACPA family as an assistant principal.

In his spare time, Mr. Vecino loves to travel to different parts of the world, exploring record stores to search for rare music, and spending time with family.

Trang Nguyen

Assistant Principal

Dr. Nguyen has been blessed to be working in education for many years in Oregon, Nevada, Missouri and California. She was born in Vietnam and immigrated at the age of 6 months to a small town in Oregon. She earned a Bachelor’s in Science and Master’s in Education at the University of Oregon and her Ph.D. from the University of Washington. She has had the  honor and privilege of working with the staff, students and families of Ànimo College Preparatory Academy for three years. The best part of her job is her daily interactions with the students, staff and parents. Dr. Nguyen enjoys working out and in an avid college football fan. Go Ducks!

Ashlyn Ramos

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Ramos was born and raised in Whittier, California. She graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Sociology and minor in Counseling and Social Change. She went on to  earn an M.A. from Columbia University in Sociology and an M.Ed. from George Mason University in Virginia. Before becoming as administrator, she began her teaching career in Washington D.C. at an elementary school, educating young girls in the District’s only all girls public charter school. She eventually made it back to Los Angeles where she taught grades K-6, worked as a math intervention teacher, and instructional coach for math teachers. Before joining the team at ACPA, Mrs. Ramos also served as an Administrator-in-Residence with Green Dot Public Schools.

In her spare time, Mrs. Ramos enjoys traveling and enjoying different cultures and cuisines.  She also enjoy running and spending time with her family.
