About Us

Ánimo Ralph Bunche Charter High School is a charter high school located in Los Angeles, California. It serves students in the neighborhoods of Downtown, Vernon, and Central Alameda. Our charter was approved by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and the school currently has students enrolled in grades 9 through 12.

Words from Our Community

Ánimo Ralph Bunche Charter High School is one of three high schools opened in 2006 to provide the community with a high-quality alternative to Thomas Jefferson Senior High School which, at the time, scored an API of just 516. The initiative was supported by some of the country’s leading philanthropists. Ralph Bunche is located in a new, LEED certified building that was originally designed to house two high schools. Instead, the campus is shared with Ánimo Jefferson Charter Middle School, providing an opportunity to develop seven year pathways to college success. Today, the school is committed to community outreach and social causes and regularly outperforms neighboring schools.
