Summer Bridge Information

Welcome to the Ánimo Venice Family! We are looking forward to the next four years of preparing your son/daughter for college,
leadership, and life. This confirmation letter contains very important information regarding Summer Bridge 2019, a mandatory 2-
week orientation program designed to acclimate your son/daughter to Animo Venice Charter High School (AVCHS) from June 17-
June 28.
Summer Bridge is an orientation program that sets students up for success. During this time, students will take classes in College
Readiness, Mathematics, and English. They will also participate in a local college trip and a community service trip. They will also
take placement tests in English, Mathematics, and Spanish to determine fall class placement. Please see below for your Summer
Bridge assignment:

Below is a schedule of the morning and afternoon sessions:

Morning Session (A)

  • Period 1 8:00-8:45
  • Period 2 8:50-9:35
  • Period 3 9:40-10:25
  • Advisory 10:30-10:55

Afternoon Session (B)

  • Period 1 11:30 – 12:15
  • Period 2 12:20 – 1:05
  • Period 3 1:10 – 1:55
  • Period 4 2:00 – 2:25


Unfortunately, the school will not be able to provide lunch for students during Summer Bridge so please ensure your child eats a
healthy breakfast. Our after school program ARC will provide some morning snacks. All students are expected to come to Summer
Bridge every day in school uniform: khaki bottoms and a navy blue polo. All 9th grade students are required to purchase the book I
Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai by the first day of Summer
Bridge. The book is currently available online at amazon.com for $10.
