\"\"<\/a>January 31, 2019Dear Green Dot families,Tuesday was an important day for public charter schools in Los Angeles. Hundreds of Green Dot parents, students, teachers, staff and community partners joined thousands more in front of the LAUSD headquarters for a rally prior to the Board meeting where Trustees voted 5-1 in favor of a resolution that asks the California State Legislature to impose a temporary moratorium on new charter schools.We all know that a moratorium on new charter schools would limit the educational options afforded to some of the highest-need communities in the city.\u00a0This vote does not close any Green Dot schools<\/strong>, and we know that your voices will continue to amplify the achievements of our students.Despite the fact that the vote did not land where the thousands of parents and community members at the rally had hoped, I want to share with you that I remain filled with hope and inspiration\u2014thousands of families spoke truth to power. Green Dot has long sought to provide high-quality, unionized, and public alternatives to some of Los Angeles\u2019 lowest-performing schools, and yesterday\u2019s rally was about asking for more schools like ours. Take a moment to see some highlights from the rally here.<\/a>We must now move ahead with a renewed sense of purpose. Cientos de padres de familia, estudiantes, maestros, personal y socios comunitarios de Green Dot se unieron a miles m\u00e1s en frente de la sede del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Los \u00c1ngeles (LAUSD) para una manifestasion antes de la reuni\u00f3n de la Junta Escolar donde los Fideicomisarios votaron 5-1 a favor de una resoluci\u00f3n que pide a la Legislatura del Estado de California que imponga una moratoria temporal sobre las nuevas escuelas ch\u00e1rter.Todos sabemos que una moratoria en las nuevas escuelas ch\u00e1rter limitar\u00eda las opciones educativas que se ofrecen a algunas de las comunidades m\u00e1s necesitadas de la ciudad.\u00a0Esta votaci\u00f3n no cierra ninguna escuela Green Dot<\/b>\u00a0y sabemos que sus voces continuar\u00e1n amplificando los logros de nuestros estudiantes.A pesar del hecho de que la votaci\u00f3n no lleg\u00f3 a donde los miles de padres de familia y miembros de la comunidad hab\u00edan esperado en la reuni\u00f3n, quiero compartir con ustedes que me siento llena de esperanza e inspiraci\u00f3n; miles de familias hablaron la verdad al poder.
