Meet the Leadership Team
Angie Rodriguez is honored to begin her fifth year at AMJ and with Green Dot, 4 years as Assistant Principal and beginning this year as principal. Before working at Green Dot, Angie worked for LAUSD as a teacher, coordinator, counselor, and wellness facilitator. One of her proudest accomplishments is her work on President Barack Obama’s campaign in 2008.
Angie has 6 children, including 2 sets of twins. The oldest is 31, 29(boy/girl twins), 16, and 13(identical boy twins). Angie loves football, salsa dancing, reading, gospel music, and hip-hop/rap! She is part of the Intercessory Prayer and Banner ministry at her church and has a passion for social justice.
Angie is originally from Oakland CA. She went to Fairfax H.S, UCLA undergrad (BA in Psychology), GO BRUINS. She received her MS in School Based Family Counseling and Educational Administration from CSULA and her EdD in Educational Leadership from CSULB, both with a 4.0 GPA. She is excited to lead the AMJ constellation from good to great in this time of social awakening.
Mike Curry could not be more excited to be a part of the AMJ constellation. He starts his second year as an Assistant Principal.
Before joining Green Dot, Mike has served as a 4th, 5th, and 8th grade Special Education teacher at Camino Nuevo Kayne-Siart. Prior to that, he worked as a 4th grade General Education teacher at Forestdale Elementary in Malden, Massachusetts.
Mike grew up in Long Island, NY where he found his love of teaching, NY sports teams, video games, snowboarding, and motorcycles. He attended Boston University to get his degree in Elementary Education, got his master’s in Special Education from American International College, and received his Admin Credential from LMU. He moved to L.A. in 2015 to follow his lovely girlfriend (now wife) as she pursues her career in acting. He much prefers sunny southern California to the snow and ice covered commutes in New England.
Ashlyn completed the Administrator-in-Residence program with Green Dot Public Schools in 2018 and served as the Assistant Principal at Ánimo College Preparatory Academy for the past two years. She joins the AMJ constellation as Assistant Principal this year, 2020. Before becoming as administrator, Ashlyn worked as a K-6 teacher, math intervention teacher, and math instructional coach.
Ashlyn was born and raised in Whittier, California. She graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Sociology and minor in Counseling and Social Change. She also earned an M.A. from Columbia University in Sociology and an M.Ed. from George Mason University in Virginia. In her spare time, Ashlyn enjoys traveling, eating anything spicy, running, and spending time with her wife and their pets, Naxos and Buddakan.
