About Us
Ánimo College Preparatory Academy is a charter high school located in Los Angeles, California. It serves students in the community of Watts. Our charter was approved by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and the school currently has students enrolled in grades 9 through 12.

History
Acknowledging the early success at Locke, LAUSD invited Green Dot to attempt a similar turnaround at David Starr Jordan High School in the heart of the Jordan Downs housing project in Watts. The school, a hub for local gang violence, was split between Green Dot and Mayor Villaraigosa’s PLAS organization. Entering its second year under new management, the newly named Ánimo College Preparatory Academy is now a far safer and more welcoming campus actively building positive relationships with the broader community. The campus is undergoing a $78 million renovation to be completed in 2015 and Green Dot has high hopes for the school’s long-term success.
