Ánimo South LA Ranks in U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 Best High School Report

For 17 years, Green Dot Public Schools has dedicated itself to creating positive, academically rigorous public schools in neighborhoods across the country that are in highest need of quality school options. We are proud of the work we’ve done to serve high school and middle school students in Los Angeles, Memphis, and Tacoma.

This week we are particularly pleased, as the U.S. News & World Report has issued its Best High Schools 2017 report. The report recognizes each of our nine independent public charter high schools as among the best in the nation, with Ánimo South LA earning Silver recognition.

“Our students, families, and staff work incredibly hard to achieve this level of success. We’re proud of our schools who ranked among America’s best,” said Cristina de Jesus, CEO of Green Dot Public Schools California. “Particularly in a time when charter schools are under fire, we look to this independent recognition as a proof point that we are delivering on our mission to prepare all students for college, leadership, and life.”

When we are recognized in this way, it affirms our model is working: providing a top-notch public education in neighborhoods historically served by persistently low-performing schools. Our vision is that we can, working with devoted and unionized educators in a Title I setting, prepare all students for college, leadership, and life. At Green Dot, we’re proud of all our schools as they continue to make a significant difference for America’s students, and we look forward to carrying on this incredibly important work.
