School Operations Team
School Operations Manager
Ms. Avila joined the Animo Pat Brown family in 2008 as an office assistant. She was the first point of contact for students, families, and the Florence Firestone community. Ms. Avila continued her work in this role for 8 years. In 2016, Ms. Avila transitioned into the School Operations Manager position. Now, Ms. Avila oversees operations, including but not limited to, recruitment, enrollment, purchasing, payroll, and senior activities. Ms. Avila enjoys forming relationships with the families and students of Animo Pat Brown.
In her spare time, Ms. Avila enjoys spending time with her 3 kids and planning their birthday parties. When away from her kids, Ms. Avila loves to dance to banda and listen to live music. She also enjoys going on trips to Ensenada to devour mariscos and micheladas.
Ms. Cruz is a founding student of Animo Pat Brown CHS, making her extremely excited to perform and grow as APB's Office Assistant. After graduating from APB she went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies from UC Santa Barbara. Since returning to Los Angeles, she has had the opportunity to work as a Program Manager for Teens Exploring Technology (a non profit organization, which she's a junior co-founder for); an Instructional Aide for Animo Watts College Preparatory HS; a Project Manager for Electroboard US Inc. All these positions have brought her back to APB with the hope that it will help her accomplish one of her goals: help reform the education system in the inner Los Angeles area.
Ms. Cruz finds it difficult to write about herself, but she will try to give enough information so you could get to know her. Her interests vary from going to concerts, traveling, biking, reading, and binge listening to some of her favorite podcasts. On the days when she doesn't want to do some of those things, she prefers to lay in her hammock at home.
Ms. Ocampo is very fortunate to be the Parent Coordinator at Animo Pat Brown for the second year in a row. Previous to her role, she worked with the Special Education department for two years at Ánimo Pat Brown and about 12 years at another charter school. As Parent Coordinator, she manages the meal program, student recruitment, and parent workshops.
Ms. Ocampo really enjoy working with her families and students.
