ACPA in the News: Teacher and Students Discuss the Election in USA Today

The 2016 election has sparked conversations about immigration policy throughout our nation. USA Today published an article examining how educators and students are navigating the current landscape. The article shared instances of intolerance experienced by students and educators at schools across the nation.

In the midst of rallies and protests, Green Dot students and educators at Ánimo College Prep Academy had the opportunity to add their voices to the conversation. In an interview with USA Today, ACPA teacher Stephanie Lowe and Jennifer Rodriguez, '18, and Patricia Rodriguez, '16, spoke on a range of emotions that people are feeling. They were able to express how their school has been a safe zone in the current landscape. We are grateful that our students were given the opportunity to meaningfully express their feelings and views.
